Research Staff

The reinforcement fibre group currently employs 10 full time researchers as well as a number of technical staff, support staff and student assistants.

Alexander Lüking

Mr. Alexander Lüking is the head of the reinforcement fibres group and member of the organizing committee of the International Glass Fibre Symposium. Key research areas include:

  • Glass Fibre Production Technology

  • Basalt Fibre Production Technology

  • In-situ thermoplastic coatings of glass fibres

  • Silica-Aerogel Fibres


Thilo Becker

Mr. Thilo Becker is the group leader of the inorganic fibres research group and the chair of the organizing committee of the Aachen Fibre Symposium. Key research areas include:

  • Glass Fibre Production Technology

  • Basalt Fibre Production Technology

  • Fibre breakage detection mechanisms

  • Sizing application (Glass & Basalt Fibres)


Tim Röding

Mr. Tim Röding is the group leader of the carbon fibre research group. Key research areas include:

  • Stabilization of alternative Precursor Fibres

  • Carbonization of Precursor Fibres
